All I can think about are those mattress commercials where they talk about how a mattress doubles in weight over 8 years from the dead skins and bodily fluids. YUCK! A mattress is like a giant sponge and so is a pre-owned home.
Just stop and think about it for a minute. The carpeting through the house has soaked up everything over the life of the carpet. The air conditioning ducts have collected airborne materials for years. Dogs, cats, birds, tobacco, pet urine and many more airborne materials don’t magically disappear when the seller leaves. Yes, they can have the house thoroughly cleaned but it is never truly gone. What about interior water damage covering up mold in the walls and insulation? Easy to cover up prior damage with a little paint and repair.
Have you ever had a friend or child that is highly allergic to an animal or mold. Take them into a house that looks fine on the surface and see how they react. Scary sight to witness. So, if you can afford to buy new, why wouldn’t you?
