Most, if not all builders, will claim they are a quality builder. The definition of quality is subjective to every person. Quality to one person is subpar to another. Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota, and Honda all make great vehicles, but to the consumer that has a Lexus or Acura they are not quality. Taking it one step further, the people who drive a Mercedes or Bentley are at a whole different level on quality standards. So, what is quality and what truly sets home builders apart?
There is a vast difference between quality and quantity in new home construction. When building several hundred homes per year, quality will suffer. Attention to detail tends to fall short when focus is all about the volume. For many builders, it is all about the numbers. Once a customer becomes a number versus a client there is less focus on the little things. Short cuts often occur to get to their end result not YOUR end result – a beautiful, quality custom home. I am not saying that volume builders don’t build a nice home, or that you can’t get a quality home from a production builder. There are great production builders that build at an affordable price point and construct a nice home.
A custom home builder will focus on the quality of each home; paying attention to detail is more important. Quality builders strive for perfection and settle for excellence. When it comes to quality there are no cutting corners to speed up the build job. The job is done once its right not when a timeline says you are done.
